So happy with Stax!

Switched over to Stax for my e-commerce site and I'm so glad I did! The integration with my existing platform was surprisingly smooth. The recurring billing engine works perfectly for my subscription boxes. I love the simple dashboard and how easy it is to see all my transactions. My customers have had no issues with the one-touch checkout. It's been a fantastic experience and I'm definitely recommending them to other small businesses!

Good value, free hardware

I was looking for a new payment processor and found Stax offered a free card reader with their subscription. That saved me some upfront costs. The monthly subscription fee felt fair for what I'm getting, especially with the wholesale processing rates. I compared it to a few other options, and the overall value for money was definitely there. I appreciate not having hidden fees. It was a solid purchase.

Good system, slow setup

I signed up for the flat-fee merchant services a few months ago for my small retail business. The setup process for the point of sale terminal took longer than I expected, around two weeks from initial contact to getting everything operational. Support was responsive when I called with questions about the contactless card reader, but getting a hold of someone sometimes meant a short wait. Since it's been running, the system itself has been great. Funds deposit reliably within two business days, and the transaction fees are predictable, which helps with budgeting. The business analytics dashboard is pretty useful for tracking sales trends, though I haven't fully explored all its features yet. Overall, I'm satisfied with the service, it just wasn't as plug-and-play as I hoped.

Smooth switch, no drama

I moved my business's payment processing to Stax a little while back. It was pretty straightforward, surprisingly. I got their virtual terminal set up, and it's been working fine for my phone orders. The customer service folks were helpful when I had a question about an old transaction. No big issues, just a smooth transition overall. Glad I made the change.

What's the deal with discounts? Do they have any coupon codes or is it all through sales calls?

W Wendy 2 months ago
It's mostly through referral links or when you talk to sales. I never saw any public coupon codes anywhere.

Yeah, I got a waived implementation fee after a call with them. My friend got a referral bonus too through a link. Don't think they do generic 'coupon codes' like other sites.

Thinking of switching our payment processor. Is Stax legit or just another scammy 'free' terminal kinda deal?

S Sam Foster 3 months ago
Nah, they're legit. Been using them for about a year now. The 'free' reader is actually free, no hidden fees for that.

They're totally legit. I looked into them a lot and they're PCI compliant, which is a big deal for me. Their parent company has been around a while too.

Anyone know if you can get a free card reader with Stax, or is that just for big businesses?

S Steve B. 2 months ago
Yeah, I got one when I signed up for my small online shop. I think it's part of a general promotion sometimes.

I just signed up last month and they offered a free reader. It wasn't just for huge companies, I'm just a small biz.

Considering Stax vs Stripe for a new SaaS product. Any thoughts on which is better for recurring billing and integrations?

M Megan Doyle 3 months ago
I've used both. Stax has a really good recurring billing engine and their API is pretty solid for integration. Stripe is also good, but Stax's flat-fee model can save you a lot if you have higher volume.

For SaaS, I'd lean Stax. The flat fee is a game changer once you get past a certain transaction volume. Stripe's per-transaction fees can add up fast. Plus, Stax's dev portal is pretty decent.
